Learn about the steps you need to take to participate in the Academic Common Market through WVU. 

Steps to Participate

If you are not a resident of West Virginia, but you are a resident of a member state within the Academic Common Market (ACM), please follow these steps to study at WVU through the ACM. 

WVU Deadlines for accepting state certification letters
Fall Semester – July 31
Spring Semester – December 15
Summer Term – April 30

STEP 1
Be accepted to WVU.

STEP 2
Apply to your home state ACM Coordinator. This will start the ACM application process. Once the application process is completed with your home state, Step 3 will happen.

STEP 3
Your state coordinator will send your certification letter* to the Associate Provost’s Office Associate ACM Coordinator, Shirley Robinson, for WVU approval.

STEP 4
ACM approval is forwarded to the Office of the Registrar. A representative from the registrar will update your residency status.

STEP 5
The Registrar's Office sends a letter of notification of approval to your home residence.

*Upon receiving your certification letter, the process takes about 3-4 weeks to complete.
