HEPC Policies

The West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) develops and oversees a public policy agenda for West Virginia’s four-year colleges and universities. The Commission works with institutions on accomplishing their missions and carrying out state procedures.

Below you'll find some specific HEPC policies that are of interest to WVU faculty and academic staff.

HEPC Series 10: Policy Regarding Program Review
HEPC has the responsibility for review of academic programs, including the use of institutional missions as a template to assess the appropriateness of existing programs and the authority to implement needed changes.

HEPC Series 11: Creating New Programs and Ending Existing Programs
HEPC is charged by statute with general authority for academic program approval for West Virginia public colleges and universities.

Core Coursework Transfer Agreement
HEPC is charged by statute with ensuring that undergraduate core coursework completed at any of its institutions is transferable as general studies credit to all other state institutions of higher education in West Virginia for credit with the grade earned.
